La semaine dernière j'ai ouvert un e-mail que je n'aurais pas dû ouvrir. Depuis j'ai fait un grand ménage sur mon ordinateur en mode sans échec après avoir coché le système de restauration. J'ai scanné avec plusieurs anti-virus, ANTIVIR au lieu d'Avast que j'avais avant (il est moins recommandé), STINGER et PANDA en ligne. En plus j'ai scanné avec Spybot Search&Destroy, Windows Defender and SpywareBlaster. Ils n'ont rien trouvé heureusement. J'ai envoyé le résultat de Hijackthis au forum informatique sur le site: www.zebulon.fr  Pas d'infection. - Finalement j'avais l'esprit tranquille.

En général, si je ne connais pas l'expéditeur, ou si je ne l'ai pas vérifié, ou si je n'attends pas la réponse, je n'ouvre pas. Voilà le conseil qu'on nous a donné, quand j'ai fait mon stage informatique.

Mais la situation était différente. Un jour avant un fabricant des nounours, que je ne connais pas, m'avait proposé un échange des liens. Et c'était une bonne idée. Je croyais qu'il y avait un message pareil. Mais je me suis trompée. Magré tout, la prochaine fois, je n'ouvrirai plus. Cela m'a pris des heures pour faire un grand ménage. Il vaut mieux contacter par courrier, si on veut être sûr d'être lu.

Novice collectors often find themselves asking this inevitable question: Is my antique valuable?

Though there are no established set of rules or standards in determining which antique is really valuable, there are four acceptable criteria in appraising one's furniture and collectibles: condition, quality, provenance, and rarity.

You may have the Dead Sea Scrolls, but if the contents are practically impossible to study, it is of no use even to an obsessive collector.

Any replacement or damage, however inconspicuous, devalues your antique. Also, something with a more intricate design is usually more valuable than a piece with simpler style.

Who would have believed that little girls, often working in dim light and cramped quarters, perhaps under the merciless eye of a schoolmistress, using only thread and needle and their own imaginations, could create designs to delight a generation that dresses in synthetics and does everything by machine?

Sampler art is like any other -- an art. Every art has its appreciators. Not everyone admires Miro, Chagall, Degas, Van Gogh, .... People are drawn to what speaks to them. As a woman, I feel these samplers are a big piece of where we came from. While men's histories were often recorded in detail, sometimes all we have left of a great woman is what she left in stitches on fabric. Sad, but noble. Don't you think?
